recent_illustrations.jpg

Here are a few recent illustrations and a couple pieces of type I’ve been playing with. Really trying to push my vector illustration style with a mixture of great detail, yet not overly busy. Some of the pieces are works in progress. I’m actually working on this eagle / vulture illustration today.

shirts2.jpgshirts_1.jpg

Aiight! Just to prove that I’m doing more than some personal prints and selling a few pieces via Legacy of Defeat, here is a sampling of some shirts I’ve worked on recently. I was just skimming over my blog today and noticed that I’m not showing much of what I’ve been involved with. Granted a lot of the projects are still hush hush since they are not in the market place yet, but these I think I can get away with showing. I’ve been playing a lot with BMP files and halftones lately. A couple nice pieces in there I’m stoked on.

Seeking Printers

Tuesday, September 23rd, 2008

Got a question, and maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I am looking for a digital printer who can do lower runs of perfect bound books, and has a fair price. Any suggestions? The local guy I use is okay, but the prices are a bit steep for the quality I get.

Julie West

I seriously love Julie West’s work. Yesterday Leta, who is a avid collector of her work, got this piece in the mail. It’s a hand painted 8 inch (i believe) piece. It’s pretty rad.

Posters…

chromeo1.jpgtrivium1.jpgBeen wrapping up a lot of loose ends these past few weeks, and a couple of the projects were some gig posters. The Chromeo poster was a mock for Adrian over at Revolt Marketing for Scion. Adrian also runs Heist Party The Trivium Poster was for Dan over at Vahalla Studios for a secret Myspace event. Really don’t mind doing them, gives me a chance to rehash some pieces, as well as work on some new ideas. There seems to be a lot of interesting projects deck, just waiting to get approvals or the thumbs up to start. I know with the economy going to hell, should be interesting to see what plays or if i need to start getting my Mad Max on and horde some water and rice.. hopefully not

Surf Expo 2008

Monday, September 15th, 2008

surfexpo.jpgThis weekend I had the pleasure of attending Surf Expo. I decided since I just got off of the ASR / Agenda trip, to just do one day over at Surf. Since it’s here in Orlando, and only a half hour from me, wasn’t much of a commitment. Over all the show was pretty rewarding. A lot of the displays were the same from San Diego, and just impressed with the ones who I met over there actually seemed pretty sane this time around. Before I went, i met up with Chris Parks who runs Pale Horse Studios over in Tampa. During our walking of it, ran into a guy who was co-owner of a large skateboard distribution company who also knew my work via Plan B. I was great catching up and checking out the boards had up from the show that made it over to here from ASR. Also met up with a few others friends / clients and talked shop, check out their new gear and just was stoked to see each other again. After that, this weekend I decided to go internet free with the family and enjoyed a nice Villa outside of Disney. Did a couple nights over at the Tampa Casino playing Texas hold ‘em and Video BlackJack, then relaxed at the pool all day. Since we got in late today (monday), need to play catch up.If you want, you can view some of the photos from Surf Expo at my Flickr account

Political Illustration V2

Friday, September 12th, 2008

politicalposter1.jpgHere is the work in progress. I am using a few iconic things in this piece that also represent me (i.e. the skull), and building from there. Probably add some type and do some clean up, but so far, looks decent. Well, I’m off to Surf Expo for the day, then spending the weekend over at some villa outside of Disney with friends, so I won’t be on the computer as much. Hopefully i’ll get my laptop charged up.
