My New Tattoo

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

tat1.jpgYesterday (Saturday) I went to a tattoo convention with my friend Chris Parks from Pale Horse Studios. I found out a few days before that B.J. Betts was going to be there doing work, and since he’s the master of script typography, I was going to see if i could make a appointment. The show was slow and to my surprise, he had a time open pretty quickly, so I had him do a couple pieces for me. This is my first real piece, but have plans to finish my lower arm later on with various iconic thing that represent me and what I do. He did a great job, however, it’s time to get use to it!

Promo Prints

promo_cards.jpgpromo_prints1.jpg promo_print.jpg

Sorry for the lack of posts this week and last. Between the Hurricane, trying to get projects done before the 1st of September and planning for the ASR trip, I’ve been pretty much none stop. I have been in the habit of updating Twitter and Facebook on a regular basis. Damn Iphone got me hooked on doing that during the day or night, or whenever I’ve had time.

A package came in today with my promo prints I’m taking with me to ASR. Super exciting to get these signed and stuffed. Each one comes with a hand signed print (9 total) in a silk screened envelope as well as laser engraved business card / coaster. Also did some that are uncut so I can sell them as prints. Hopefully tonight I’ll upload all the pictures that I took of these as well as the Smashing Pumpkins Poster, The Evil Poster, the laser etched cards and anything I’ve missed to Flickr. I will have a small stack left over for sale over at Legacy of Defeat, but let me know if you want a set and I’ll hold a few extra back.

Fay, Twitter, ASR, Vans, Anarchy and a CD Cover…

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

We have this tropical storm gunning for Orlando from the the south at about 10 miles per hour, so trying to do as much as possible before we are effected by possible power outages.. Since we live in a new developed area, and surrounded by trees, figured it going to happen.. but when…:) So just in case, trying to be as ‘productive’ as possible, and I was. I signed up on Twitter, so if you’re a stalker and want to know what is what with what, I’m there. I got 7 pairs of Anarchy sunglasses in the mail, which was pretty exciting, . Then found out my business cards are in the mail. After that was done, I wrapped up the planning for ASR and Agenda which is coming at the beginning of next month over in San Diego. Then finished up the day doing a few illustrations for Vans and trying to get a CD cover finalized. Tomorrow is much of the same. Hope to accomplish much the same.

2nd Class Moleskin Proof

2ndclass_moleskin.jpg

Today I got a package with a proof of a possible moleskin I wanted to do up. This is a 5.25” x 8.25”. I believe I want to run this one as well as the bear print, but then again, it all depends on cost. What are your thoughts. I’m personally loving getting things engraved…

Ah..Doing Some Illustrations…

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

_ape.jpg_hawk.jpg I have a few projects that call for various illustrations, one of which is a nature themed project. So it was nice to day to spend time putting together the illustrations (and no, I can’t show the whole pieces due to various terms). These are still in the raw phase, so don’t hate! The last project, which was last week was some pieces for Nike on the fly and a rush deadline, but it felt nice to click, sip coffee, and do something that was relaxing. On the news front, doing a project for a friend in Seattle who also has Jeremy Fish involved. It should be interesting to see the diversity of the products once things are sorted. Shane (ShanesArt) let me know that I was given credit over at Nike for the House of Hoops, Olympic pieces. You can view the site and short video here. I also got word from Jason over at Nike that I should be getting a laser engraved PS3 with my art on it.. not a bad trade off. There is a lot of nutty stuff going on and it is very exciting just to hear from various people in the industry. And lastly, I chose on the business card.. Also made a business card coaster! I’m going to include that into all the orders over at Legacy of Defeat. Once I get the final samples, I’ll post them.

Smashing Pumpkins Final

Friday, August 8th, 2008

smashingpumpkins_v3.jpg smashingpumpkins_v2_1.jpgHere is the final approved poster. There were some changes, but for the part, i really like it. I added some details in the white so it’s not a solid white and wanted to make the white the main focal point so the first thing you focus on is the name of the band, with the elements and illustrations playing a secondary part.

AMC Monsterfest Type

Thursday, August 7th, 2008

amc_monsterfest.jpgHere are some type pieces I put together while working with Stephen Schuster over at Element217 on the AMC Monsterfest pitch. I wanted to give a range between the old school hot rod monster (Rat Finkish) to the grind house style, as well as a few that were middle of the road. Over all the typography turned out solid. On a secondary note, if you are looking for someone to do some solid video work, check out Stephen’s work, you won’t be disappointed.

Smashing Pumpkins Event Poster … Advice Please

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

smashing1.jpgsmashing2.jpg smashing3.jpg

Working on a gig poster for one of the Smashing Pumpkins dates down in Miami. So far I like where it’s at, but would love to hear some feedback to see what could be better. I personally like the muted gold and white (top one), but also like the CMYK one (bottom) because it has this 60’s black-light style. Any thoughts? Loves? Hates? etc…
