Photoshop’d V.2

pilot.jpg

Well, another piece done up in that exact same style. But it’s all good. I got some quality time in today doing some shirts, editorial piece for Revolver Magazine and needed a short bit to screw around with a idea I’ve had in the back of my mind. I was actually putting together a rough photoshop mock for a illustration I wanted to work on, but kept clicking and clicking. Why is design so addictive (when you can do what you want to do)?

Photoshop’d

alinavacariu_normal.jpgalinavacariu_hydro74.jpgRather forgot how much fun photoshop can be. This is a quick screw-around just to explore some lighting things that I haven’t had a chance to really explore. While working on the GQ piece, there was something about it that made me feel it was dated (just for me and my older photoshop techniques) and since I hardly ever really open up photoshop, I wanted to just play around and see if I can get something a bit more ‘modern or trend’ in away. Not too shabby for 20 minutes of exploration. I’m actually pretty stoked and need to do a couple crazy typography pieces for a couple brands in photoshop!! Sorry Illustrator, I knowz i be cheat’n on yo ass!

I decided, with the success of the bear print over at Cosh Gallery, in the U.K., I thought i would mock up a couple older illustrations that I love. I recently got in a couple of the bear prints from Cosh so once i get the photos off my camera, I will upload them. Viva La Animals!

Bond, James Bond… Illustration for GQ

gq_bond3.jpg

I spent the day working on a Bond illustration for GQ. I am very happy with the final, however due to schedule demands, I wish I could spent a tad bit more time on and customized a few areas. But for the fact I play in Photoshop once every few weeks (to do illustrations in), I am still stoked with the final.

Some Somewhat Recent Typography

type.jpg

One of the good, yet bad things about this past year and going into this year is that a lot of the recent pieces I’m not at liberty to show due to contractual agreements and how ‘hush hush’ some of the current projects are. However, there have been a few things done up recently I thought I could get away with showing. Granted, it’s much of the same, but still some new techniques being played with, within them.

Couple Recent

recent1.jpgrecent2.jpgHere are a couple older pieces that I just discovered from last year that I actually forgot about. They are nothing over the top, but had a interesting mix to them. Right now is pretty exciting and busy. I have some typography projects for MTV, Maxim Magazine & GQ, as well as wrapping up illustrations for Seventh Letter, Tribal Gear, Quiksilver & Dragon. Few rad projects are on deck, but at least the stress of the last two weeks is done as I wrapped up 6 Nike Illustrations. It’s been a crazy month so far. I know I was personally stressed due to the recession we seem to starting here in the states. However for the core brands & action sports lines, seems like it’s still business as usual, thus giving me a little sense that it might be as bad as the media states!

Cylon Dunny *Rough

Monday, March 24th, 2008

cylon_dunny.jpg

I was having far too much with this illustration. This is just a rough mock I did on a dunny. I still need to develop the body, but i kinda dig the evil, possible tattoo’d version of the cylon. Why should the new CGI one’s on the current series get all the credit. Old School should be just as bad ass! Like I said, this is just a rough. And no, this isn’t for a actual Dunny, however would be nice to score one (hint hint), ha.

Cylon Illustration

cylon1.jpgcylon2.jpg

As a child I was amazed by the television show, Battlestar Galactica because of the Cylons. I also wanted the robot dog too, but my mom told me they were too expensive. So today, I started to work on a Cylon illustration. Not sure where it’s going, but wanted to just do something that was personal to me. I think eventually, it will get silkscreened, or it just might become that unused illustration, but I’ve been having fun doing this piece today. By the way, Happy Easter.

Bear Tattoo | Zachary Sullivan

tattoo1.jpgJust got a email in from Zackary Sullivan with his new tattoo work he just had done. The piece looks fantastic and I am very flattered it was done! Thank you Zackary, this made my day! Photo by Caleb Wilkerson

Obama: A More Perfect Union

Friday, March 21st, 2008

obama.jpgFor the first time in a long time, I have a real sense of hope for this American system. Granted, I still admire what John Edwards represented in his ever humble views of the middle class, working class and healthcare, but it was only recently that I started to research both Hillary and Obama. There are so many flaws and political annoyances with Hillary that it does make me look more at Obama. Over the past few months, his speeches, ideas and consistency has won me over. I feel he is one of the few politicians who over all agenda isn’t that of being self serving to his party, his lobbiest or personal motivations fueled by family affairs (i.e. George W. Bush).

If you haven’t already, or if you have bias and dislike towards Obama because you may have only watched small clips from your Fixed News station to fuel the hate of him, then you should just watch his recent speech in full. You may or may not agree with him, or support him or feel he would be a good leader, however, his personal views in this address is breath taking, human and relative.Obama Speech: A More Perfect UnionAlso, if you haven’t been watching the news. This was shocking, not only for Obama, but our very own civil liberties. There was a passport breach with Obama, which by the Privacy Act, should never be looked at unless there are security issues.Keith Olbermann : Countdown
